Speaker Series: Human Trafficking: From Bangladesh to New York City

Event is Now Closed
Due to an overwhelming response, we have reached maximum capacity. Please check back for upcoming speaker events this Spring. Thank you for your interest in this important issue.

There are more slaves today than at any other time in human history. Nearly 80% of human trafficking victims are women and girls, the majority of whom are coerced into the commercial sex trade.

Join us for a discussion with Faith Huckel, founder of Restore NYC, to learn how organizations are combatting this injustice and empowering survivors. Hear stories from Women of Vision's recent Vision Trip to Bangladesh - and be inspired to advocate and act on behalf of women and children at risk.

Faith Huckel is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Restore NYC. Her creativity and vision paved the way for innovative after care services, leading Restore to become the first organization in New York City to provide long term safe housing to foreign-born survivors of sex trafficking.

Before coming to Restore, Faith was the Volunteer Manager at the nonprofit Hope for New York, which serves the poor and marginalized in New York City. Prior to that, Faith worked as a Social Worker assisting women and children in need as well as individuals living with HIV/AIDS, mental health, and other concerns. She received her Master's in Social Work from Columbia University and is a graduate of Columbia Business School's General Management Leadership Program.

Faith has been featured in publications like the The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times for her work. She has also received awards such as the 2011 Classy Award for "Young Nonprofit Leader of the Year" and participates in the NYC Mayor's Anti Human Trafficking Task Force.
