The Hole in Our Gospel - 6 Week Quest

You’re invited to session 4 of the Hole in our Gospel study on Monday, December 5th. We’ll be meeting at 340 W 57th St, Apt 14B starting at 7pm. We’ll discuss part 3 of the book, which includes chapters 8-14 (pp. 97-168).

In our last session, we started learning about the scale of poverty and how it is manifested in regions around the world. Shockingly, over 26,500 children under the age of five die each day from preventable causes. Stearns challenged us to see things from God’s perspective and realize that the poor often represent Jesus “in His most distressing disguise.” You can go deeper in this session with the journal pages available here: http://www.sixweekquest.com

At our study I also mentioned the launch of an exciting new initiative called Do You Have One Dollar? This campaign is a philanthropic social challenge meant to mobilize 1 million people to contribute $1 to support the poor and homeless of NYC during the holiday season. All of the money raised will benefit the Bowery Mission, our chapter’s local service partner. If you’re interested in learning more about this campaign, please check out: http://doyouhaveonedollar.org/.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
