Film Screening: Nicholas Kristof's documentary Half The Sky

Mark your calendars for a community film screening event for Nicholas Kristof's documentary Half The Sky. It's a 4-hour series that will air on PBS October 1st and 2nd. However, we would only screen (2) 40-minute segments of the film highlighting gender-based violence and sex trafficking. The entire series covers additional issues such as education, economic empowerment, forced prostitution and maternal mortality.

WIN!
Several audience members will have the chance to win a copy of the Half the Sky book written by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.

Panel Discussion
Panelists include Rachel Lloyd, founder of GEMS, Jimmie Briggs, founder of the ManUp Campaign, and Fay Sardjono of Restore New York.

Community Engagement
“Be the change” and join in the work to aid women and girls! Following the panel, a variety of non-profit organizations will be available with more information on how you can help.

The focus of this screening is to encourage the film audience to not only be moved by the plight of women, but transform their conviction into action and become participants in the mission to aid women and girls. After the Q & A, there will be several other non-profit groups present to share at information tables, encourage participation, and connect.
